So Michelin has passed judgment on my hometown of the San Francisco Bay Area. Having been fortunate enough to dine at many starred restaurants in France, I was dying to see how they would rate places in the US I was familiar with.
Needless to say, I was surprised with the findings. I'm still trying to compose my thoughts on how I feel, but disappointed is the first word that comes to mind. Give me a few days and hopefully I can make a coherent post about it.
Update 10/13- Sorry for the delay, here's the post!
Bon appétit!
My opinion is that the Michelin Guide Rouge is good for the "star" restaurants... but they're out of touch and depth where other non-star-quality restos are concerned.
I've had dinner thrice at their "gourmand" or "forks" restos and been very disappointed all three times.
The food wasn't fresh and the service was snob/ appalling/ non-existant.
I think bloggers give better reviews and have fairer judgement on the non-star restos, don't you think? ;-p
